Kia Ora, my name is Mihi and today I am going to 100% convince you as to why fireworks should be banned. Firstly 80% of fireworks are non perishable and end up in our landfills or worse left where it can be blown throughout our community. Over our land and through our oceans which harms the environment and kills our ocean life including birds. Now let me ask you a question: how sad is it that our sea life, including birds, are dying because you want to see some fireworks explode in the air? That's just unfair. You're probably thinking the fish problem dies from other rubbish but 65% of the rubbish is from fireworks. I`m just going to tell you that when fireworks get set off, there are toxic chemicals in them that stay in the air for days and also stick around our environment.
Secondly some animals can die of fright like bunnies. Do you know how many bunnies die a year from fright? Well, I'm going to tell you. 1000 bunnies die a year from fright in NZ. 88% of the fright is from fireworks getting set off. Guinea pigs are a lot luckier because only around 300 die a year from fright. But how much of that frights from fireworks well it is 94% of the fright is made by fireworks going off. Sadly around 1300 animals die a year from fright and 537% is from fireworks. Like I said before, letting animals die so you can see fireworks explode in the air is unfair. So if I was you I’d stop setting off fireworks because I would remember about all the bunnies and genius pigs and any other animal that can die of fright and the more that I set off will kill more and more animals.
